    wow tumblr is actually doing something. i think every nsfw-tagged blog has been made unviewable and has had its icon reset, and some nsfw reblogs have been replaced with a message saying "Hey, this post may contain adult content, so we've hidden it from public view." with a 'learn more' link.

      Hey, Xax. I've really missed you since your departure from Tumblr, but... you were right. You were right all along about needing to leave YEARS ago, and I'm so sorry I didn't believe you sooner. The writing's been on the wall for MONTHS, and you called all of this bullshit that destroyed livelihoods and friendships and communities months and years in advance while most of us didn't even bother to listen.

      Um... I hope you and Hell Game/Hell Gate have been doing okay, and that I'll get to see more of you these days. Nearly everyone I care about has left now, and so many of us have been left adrift in the wake of Puritan Bot. If I can't reconnect, I wish only the best for you, you geometric pornography cryptid

      itttt happens.

      actually one of the things about this entire thing that's struck me is how... like, psychologically unprepared a lot of people were for this? the part where for a lot of people the internet has shrunk to a dozen sites and the thought of one really radically changing was kind of unthinkable, vs. like being used to sites going belly-up or getting sold around and left to decay. idk, it's weird.

      we'll see how it goes.

      anyway i'm here! and i'm gonna be working on some ~federation~ stuff too, since if nothing else this has really shown me how centralized the web has gotten. gotta make robust decentralization tools.
