i've been watching gravity falls recently and like. ugh. i mean okay yes it is media for literal children but after seeing some adventure time and steven universe going back to the realm of 'every episode is a moral fable where somebody's personal issues are introduced and then there is a situation where that issue causes a larger problem which can only be solved by Realizing The Value Of Family or w/e' just seems bonkers.

also tumblr really overemphasized the amount of weird illuminati stuff in it

it's also super het oh my god. dipper why are you like this. i mean okay yes sure this speaks to a larger issue w/ society given that dipper constantly crushing on wendy but being unable to say anything while she is somehow blithely unaware is supposed to be (and probably is) relatable to its target audience of uh literal 12 year olds but like oh my godddd that is such a het way of approaching relationships
