    i'm still kinda picking away at stuff. doing a bunch of hell game map generation stuff, though at this point i should put down the generation (and the drawing of new map tiles) and just start working on getting the maps 100% playable, since that's kind of a huge step.

    ALSO i'm still picking away at that farming game 'design doc', which is now living on my server. it's weird actually... planning a thing. gotta actually fit the pieces together before i start carving anything, which is not really the way i've done things historically.

    i don't reallllyyy know how interesting any of that would be to an external observer, since... i mean, there's the general interest question, but more specifically if i keep working on this, it's gonna have the same problem as some of my sprawling perma-wip stories, which is, i'll post a new version and somebody will go "okay but what specifically has been added in this massive disorganized document" and i'll go "uhhh some stuff?? i wasn't keeping track".

      hmmmm i mean i guess the meaning i am gleaning from this ENIGMATIC COMMENT is like, publishing every single revision of a game design doc kinda erodes the joy of discovery in playing the finished game for people who read those revisions, b/c you have total knowledge of the actual content?

      but idk, like... certainly the joy of discovery isn't a thing i can experience through my own work. it's all building and considering and planning and making concrete. plus, in terms of overall audience... if concernedape had been posting stardew valley design docs, like, the number of people who followed the game's development is actually pretty tiny compared to the number of people who ended up playing the game, so even having that data floating around out there might not be that important for most people.

      but idk i guess my goal for this is that... i'd like to actually see this project through, at least to the point of having a finished design, and if there's anything i learned from working on hell game it's that sitting in silence working on a thing for years without mentioning it to anybody is pretty thankless compared to actually, like, showing drafts to people.

      Yeah that's true. Maintaining morale by reminding yourself that people are interested in it and stuff ;w;
